This course introduces students to the nature and scope of addictions, examining both biblical and secular perspectives on causes, diagnosis, and treatment. Students explore common frameworks such as the disease model, twelve-step programs, and dual diagnosis, while evaluating these approaches through a biblical lens. Emphasis is placed on understanding addiction’s impact on individuals and families, developing compassion, and applying foundational strategies for helping others pursue change. Students will also consider the role of the church and community in prevention and care.
