Addictions often create a very confusing and destructive web out of one’s compulsive desires. The resources and content in this class are designed to use Scripture and best practices to challenge personal or societal attitudes, experiences, and responses to the problem of addictions. Only Scripture speaks to the depth of humanity’s broken nature and shared intrinsic desires to alter our consciousness, moods, or circumstances. This class will explore many complex variables that contribute toward the process of developing destructive and controlling desires known as addictions. Students will learn how to use practical tools for conducting interventions and helping others work through a Biblical theology and framework for overcoming addictions in Christ which, applied with compassion, can help others overcome multiple types of substance, behavior, and sinful addictions that are not easily cast off.
