COM150 Small Group Communication

Focuses on the principles and dynamics of communication within small groups, emphasizing leadership, conflict resolution, decision-making, and group cohesiveness.

COM225 Interpersonal and Group Communication

This course explores key principles that underpin effective communication across interpersonal, public speaking, and small group contexts. Students will learn to develop and apply appropriate communication strategies for one-on-one and group interactions. Emphasis is placed on analyzing and enhancing communication skills essential for building and maintaining effective relationships in both personal and professional environments.

COM320 Communicating for a Cause

This course introduces key principles and practices in communication, partner development, branding, and marketing, including the challenges and opportunities modern digital communication present, and introduces students to a framework for values development for stakeholders.

COM321 Intercultural Communication

This course is designed to develop the student's understanding of what culture is and how communication occurs within it, and to increase sensitivity to and understanding of intercultural differences and similarities. This awareness will lead to more effective communication by helping the student build an effective approach to communicating in intercultural settings, including those where language barriers may exist. A focus will be placed on the many elements and processes involved in the sending and receiving of messages within intercultural contexts.

COM456 Fundraising and Development

This course introduces students to the fundamental principles and practices of fundraising and development for nonprofit organizations. Students will explore essential fundraising models such as annual giving, major gifts, and planned giving, while learning about the growing role of digital tools in donor engagement. Emphasis is placed on understanding how to build and maintain strong relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners. The course also highlights strategies for aligning fundraising efforts with an organization’s mission and long-term sustainability.
