Citizenship -- Civic & Global Engagement

This course will provide students a working foundation toward understanding global cultures, languages, worldviews and belief systems. Emphasis will be placed on comparing and contrasting these dynamics with an eye toward productive and proactive engagement with people of and in different cultures.

This course helps students explore service-oriented career pathways while developing clarity around calling, strengths, and future direction.

This course explores the relationship between ethical reasoning, service, and civic responsibility through a biblical framework. Students examine foundational ethical theories, analyze contemporary social issues, and evaluate the role of individuals and organizations in promoting the common good. Emphasis is placed on applying ethical decision-making to real-world contexts, including community engagement, nonprofit service, and public life, with the goal of developing thoughtful, responsible contributors to society.

A study of global issues and challenges such as crime, pollution, war, poverty, drug addiction and racial tensions, with a focus on researching the historical roots and modern implications of an issue.

Religion as an effort to make sense of a chaotic world and to shape it into something predictable and manageable, has been around in many and widely varied forms since the earliest times in human history. This course is intended to help students explore human religiosity by engaging with current religious traditions, in terms of their histories, cultural contexts, and varied expressions, all with the goal of developing the ability to understand, engage, and effectively carry the Gospel of Jesus Christ into a highly diverse and constantly changing world.
