COM456 Fundraising and Development

This course introduces students to the fundamental principles and practices of fundraising and development for nonprofit organizations. Students will explore essential fundraising models such as annual giving, major gifts, and planned giving, while learning about the growing role of digital tools in donor engagement. Emphasis is placed on understanding how to build and maintain strong relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners. The course also highlights strategies for aligning fundraising efforts with an organization’s mission and long-term sustainability.

COM457 Introduction to Grant Writing

This course introduces students to the fundamental skills needed to research, write, and manage grant proposals for nonprofit organizations. Students will learn how to identify funding opportunities, align proposals with organizational priorities, and craft compelling grant narratives. The course will also cover the preparation of detailed project budgets, as well as strategies for maintaining relationships with funders and ensuring compliance with grant reporting requirements. Through hands-on exercises and case studies, students will gain practical experience in developing competitive grant applications.

FIN406 Financial Management of Nonprofit Organizations

Financial resources are the lifeblood of nonprofit organizations. This course is a survey of principles, skills and disciplines necessary to build and nurture a healthy and sustainable financial ecosystem that mobilizes a nonprofit for its declared purpose.

LDR130 Fundamentals of Leadership and Service

This course introduces students to leadership as a practice of character, responsibility, and service to others. Through cohort-based activities, reflection, and applied leadership challenges, students examine core leadership principles, servant leadership models, and the habits that sustain trust, discipline, and accountability. The course emphasizes leadership development in preparation for future service-oriented professions, with a focus on leadership foundations that precede formal authority or positional leadership.
